18ct gold, platinum, diamond and ruby spray brooch
A & W - Birmingham - 1960
This superb mid 20th century 18ct gold brooch is a fusion between classical elegance and modern style. Its use of bold shapes and strong edges creates a statement that ties in with any outfit, day or night.
The flower and spray leaf motif is set with 16 rubies, all beautifully matched, and 11 glorious diamonds, the largest forming the centre of the flower. The other diamonds are set in platinum where the tones complement the brilliance of the stones.
The brooch comes in its original leather box that bears the retailers mark for Garrard & Co., the Crown Jeweller of the time. Gerrard have been in London since 1735 and remain one of the finest jewellers in the world.
