Japanese Grove combines an underglaze blue pattern of birds amongst bamboo that is then enhanced by bold sections of gilding.

Japonism and a fascination with the newly opened up nation was a key element of the Aesthetic Movement, an influence that continues to this day.

We have sold many pieces of Japanese Grove over the years and it remains as popular now as it did in the 1870s.
 
Condition: Very good, some fine crazing to the underside.
