Minton plate painted with the head of a young woman
£595.00Price
Minton - c. 1871 - probably painted by William Coleman
This charming portrait plate is painted with the head of a young girl wearing Romanic dress. It was decorated at the Minton factory's London Art Pottery Studio on Kensington Gore.
The Art Pottery Studio was only in production for 4 years before it burned down so pieces from their output are scarce. The Studio worked with great designers like Dr Christopher Dresser and artists such as William Coleman.
Condition: Overall in good condition, a little wear to the gilt edge and some crazing to the blue ground. The thickly applied 'bleu celeste' or ‘Minton blue' ground colour is very susceptible to crazing.
