Royal Crown Derby demitasse cup and saucer
Royal Crown Derby - 1898
Many of the demitasse we see come from the first few decades of the 20th century, this one however was made in the latter years of Queen Victoria's reign. Simple and elegant, with a rococo revival c scroll handle, this demitasse is painted with trailing pink roses and stems. The gilding is applied in a dusted technique giving an ethereal quality to the overall finish, in some ways anticipating the naturalism of the Art Nouveau.
