Elegant cup and saucer decorated with Imari patterns featuring stylised flowers and foliage. The style is called Imari and is inspired by Japanese Arita porcelain from the 17th and 18th centuries. The name Imari comes from the Japanese port where the Arita porcelain was shipped from.
 
Royal Crown Derby perfected the Imari style in the late 19th century and some patterns are still produced at Osmaston Road today!
 
Condition: Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. The gilding and enamel are bright and in good condition with only very minor indications of age.
