Royal Worcester jewelled demitasse coffee cup

This shape of cup became synonymous with Worcester in the early 20th century and they made them in various colours, finishes and styles. This particular pattern combines a burnt umber tone ground with delicate trellis gilding and raised white ‘jewels’. Jewelling as a technique involved the delicate application of dots of enamel that are then fired to a jewel like quality. The top pieces of this type have fully gilded interiors and saucer centres.
