Silver and bone letter opener with inlaid agate
£195.00Price
Birmingham 1896
This unusual 19th century letter opener comprises an animal bone blade fitted onto and engraved and inlaid handle. The handle is inlaid on the front with three pieces of moss agate and is hallmarked on the reverse. The handle is attached to the blade with an engraved silver mount and fixed with tiny copper pins.
Condition - Overall very good condition, the copper pins have replaced silver ones but are therefore much stronger. The hallmarks on the reverse are a little rubbed.
