Silver and cow horn sugar caster
£395.00Price
William Dunningham & Co. - Edinburgh 1883
This Scottish silver and cow horn caster is of the highest quality and represents the fascination of the Victorians with all things Scottish. The Thistle motif in silver on the centre of the horn body reinforces this interest and coupled with the Edinburgh hallmark makes this an authentic and striking piece. On the opposite side of the body there is blank silver shield cartouche.
The base of the caster is made of glass and fits well into the open aperture of the horn. The hallmarks are very clear and show the thistle standard mark used north of the border.
Condition - The horn has a good shine and the caster is in excellent condition.
