Unusual silver sauce boat
£275.00Price
Birmingham 1890 - Nathan & Hayes
Here the scrolled and hammered design of this sauce boat is channeling the style of Dr Christopher Dresser. The rim has a ‘peeled’ appearance that beautifully suits silver and gives the impression that the top has been rolled back to reveal the delicious sauce inside. The hammered finish and shell legs give the piece an organic appearance as if it perhaps was borne of the sea.
Made in Birmingham in 1890, it shows how advanced design was by this time but equally it surprises as it is not what we expect for the High Victorian style.
Condtion: Excellent condition and good patina to the silver.
